Job description

Care Support Worker (Personal Assistant)

Location: Newton Mearns, G77 6AA.
Salary: £10.90 per hour.
Contract: 39 hours per week.

Are you interested in working for an award-winning social care charity

Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within Enable by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes - whatever they may be!

Each person we support has different support needs, so your role as Support Worker may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections.

ENABLE Scotland creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met. Let's introduce you to Arthur:

My name is Arthur. I live in my own home in Newton Mearns. I have a flat mate. We both have our own Personal Assistants during the day and share support from 10pm. The shift pattern is 7.30am-11pm. Sleepovers are 11pm-8am

I'm a gentle and friendly man and well known for my sunny personality and charming smile. I mostly enjoy getting out and about in the local community to all sorts of places and love people watching. I enjoy walking, I'm a bit unsteady on my feet and require staff to support me. I have my own mobility car and would need you to be able to drive me to places like the supermarket, park, social clubs, and on holiday. Therefore, a driving license is essential for you to work with me. I would also expect you to introduce me to new places.

My family are very important to me, and I would like your support to help me keep in touch with them. I love food! I would like you to support me to prepare meals specifically to my needs and to ensure I eat a balanced diet. I enjoy helping my staff and I get a buzz when I am praised for my efforts.

I take pride in my appearance and always like to look my best. I have high standards and need you to be comfortable in supporting me with personal care.

It is essential that you take the time to get to know me as an individual. I have my own unique way of communicating and it is important that you learn how best to communicate with me and respect my ways. If you share the same interests and values, can work in partnership with me to achieve my goals, and are willing to commit yourself as a member of my staff team then I look forward to hearing from you.

The Best in You Brings Out the Best in Me

The people we support have many varied interests and hobbies and have many of the same dreams and aspirations as we do; they just too often do not get the opportunity to experience these same opportunities. A career with Enable is as rewarding as it is diverse, Personal Assistants at their best have the potential to truly bring out the best in the people we support.
About You

If you think you share the same interests and have the commitment, dedication, and above all, desire to support Arthur to get the most out of life; then please apply now!

Enable needs you and your values to help us create an equal society for every person who has a learning disability.

You don’t need experience in care to start your social care career with Enable. We recruit people based on their values and transferrable skills.
