About this Apprenticeship

Our central team comprises a dedicated, driven group of departments working centrally to provide support across the Federation and all of our academies. Across a multitude of key departments, we maintain expertise all integral to supporting central and academies in areas such as Finance, HR, Data, Estates Management, Talent and many more.

Main Areas of Responsibility

As an apprentice, you will develop the skills required to provide support for academies in delivering a programme of CEIAG which guides students to make informed careers choices and move successfully into good careers. You will work closely with the Head of Careers and the Careers Team to design, plan and deliver an informed offer for students across your allocated academies. This will include structured curriculum projects, off site careers related activities and a centrally planned programme of events. As this is a trainee role, you will be expected to be proactive in your approach as there will be a lot to learn.

The apprenticeship will take between 18 to 24 months

• Work and support each academy's career lead and career adviser to audit and plan high quality careers provision that takes in to account statutory guidance and compliments the academy's development/improvement plans

• Work with each academy's career lead and career adviser to plan, manage and deliver a careers education programme

• Work with the academy's career lead and career adviser to manage the contribution of colleagues, parents and other partners to develop high quality careers learning, planning and development

• Alongside the career adviser, support the development/enhance teaching quality for staff delivering careers, providing monitoring and training so they are equipped to deliver activities

• Work directly with students to offer top quality careers advice and guidance in relation to the Gatsby benchmarks

• Work with the federation careers team to ensure quality provision and innovations across all academies, including the maintenance of labour market information and development of national and local industry/organisational links

What We are Looking For
  • Prepared to work towards the Diploma in Careers Guidance or Qualification in Careers Guidance to Level 6.
  • GCSEs maths and English Language at A -C
  • A levels or equivalent
  • Experience of working and communicating with students and of successfully motivating them to plan and achieve their career goals
  • Knowledge of the school system and key transitional year groups.
  • An understanding of the full range of career opportunities for students, including apprenticeships
  • A working understanding and commitment to equality of opportunity for all.
  • Commitment to the highest standards of child protection
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant statutory guidance pertaining to CEIAG.
  • Knowledge of non - UK university systems
  • Ability to relate well to young people and a genuine interest in delivering positive outcomes for them.
  • To be prepared to work flexibly across different academy sites
  • To be prepared to work outside of normal working hours including evenings and school holidays
  • The desire to undertake continuous professional development and engage fully in the performance review process
  • Positive, enthusiastic, energetic, flexible with a 'can do' attitude
  • Approachable, open and honest
