Reed Further Education are working with a college in the Birmingham area who are seeking a dedicated Careers Advisor to provide comprehensive careers information, advice, and guidance to potential students, current students, and staff.
The successful candidate will ensure that individuals achieve their full potential through one to one interviews and group sessions, covering all aspects of careers work and supporting the day to day operations of student services.
The college are looking for the Careers Advisor to start the position in the new academic year September 2024.
Job Title: Careers Advisor
Position: Full-time, 36.5 hours (Term-time only, part-time hours may be considered)
Job Type: Temporary Ongoing
Salary: £16 - £20 per hour including holiday pay
Location: Bordesley Green, Birmingham
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct one-to-one careers guidance interviews to support students in making informed decisions about employment, education, and training.
- Provide initial information and advice on support services, including admissions, welfare advice, and additional support.
- Prepare and deliver group sessions on employability, job search skills, progression routes, and higher education.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of careers education within the college.
- Promote Careers and Student Services events to meet the needs of students.
- Maintain up-to-date careers resources in line with IAG standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum Level 4 qualification in Careers/IAG.
- Experience working in Careers/IAG.
- Knowledge of current education, employment, and training opportunities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Full driving licence as travel will be required between college campuses.
