Carpenter / Joiner - Bodmin
Summary
We are looking for a Carpenter / Joiner with traditional carpentry skills to join our Specialist Craft Team based at Lanhydrock in Bodmin, Cornwall. You’ll have a broad knowledge of both traditional and modern construction, along with an appreciation of conservation methods of listed and traditional buildings, associated materials and maintenance techniques. You’ll have the knowledge and confidence to assist less experienced team members and play an active part in the training and the development of apprenticeships within the National Trust.
The working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. Much of your work will be based in the wider region, we start and finish our day within the times stated, this includes travel time to and from our workshop. Transport provided from the workshop to site and tools are provided.
This is a permanent opportunity offering a salary of £26,500.

The existing team consists of conservation Joiners, Carpenters, Stonemasons, and two Apprentices. 
What you'll be doing
From bench joinery to site joinery, your role will be varied. The scope of work you will be doing covers fabrication and installation of specialist bespoke joinery on windows, doors, paneling, mouldings and beadings. Conservation repairs to historic woodwork onsite, timber repairs to existing joinery and preparation for redecoration.  Part of our work is also to engage with our members and visitors. This can include talking to visitors and showing them the conservation work that’s being carried out. This often improves the visitors’ experience at the property and raises the profile of the Specialist Craft work.
Who we're looking for
•practical traditional carpentry skills, ideally NVQ Level 2 and / or 3, comparable experience will also be considered •experience of working on heritage and conservation projects•generalist building maintenance skills: pointing, painting, flint work, brick work, finishing and splicing.  •good people skills with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external customers.•proficient in the use of workshop machinery / equipment •willingness to undertake additional training offered by the National Trust to maintain and increase skills.•knowledge of health and safety compliance requirements, ideally CSCS and / or PASMA
