We are looking for a Case Services Officer to work on our Housing Need Register, processing applications for social housing.

This job opportunity allows your work location to be flexible within the commute of Canterbury for some onsite meetings.

About this Case Services Officer / Customer Service Administrator job in Canterbury:

The team provides back office support and processing for a variety of services the council manages. The vacancy we have available is within the Housing Needs Register area of work.


Here’s what you’ll get up to:

  • You’ll be processing applications and documentation for social housing, reviewing all information and making decisions on applications.
  • Following this, you will update system records, draft written replies and send letters.
  • You will handle customer queries, providing a quick turn around to these inquiries as part of a team that supports each other.
  • On a case management basis, you will act as a point of contact for the customer to enhance the customer journey and customer experience.
  • To provide customers without IT access equal opportunity, you will offer an appointment system to complete the online form over the telephone.
  • With customer’s needs in mind, you will signpost /make referrals for customers to other help and support available to them.

Working pattern:

  • Part-time, 18.5 hours per week.
  • Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, excluding Bank Holidays.
  • Additional time off over the Christmas period.

About you, the successful Case Services Officer:

This job opportunity would suit:

  • Those who would like to start a career in customer service administration, or have some experience as a customer service administrator or
  • Those with some experience in delivering or supporting the delivery of council services.

We’re looking for someone with the following skills:

  • You will be confident in speaking to customers face-to-face, by email and over the telephone.
  • Attention to detail is vital in maintaining accurate and up to date records along with the ability to follow policy and process.
  • Able and willing to work within a team, remaining committed to achieving a shared goal together.

A standard level DBS check is required for this role.
