Job Overview:
We are seeking a friendly and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a Customer Service Associate / Cashier. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our customers and ensuring smooth transactions at the cash register. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys interacting with people and has strong organizational skills.

Duties:
- Greet customers with a warm and friendly demeanor
- Scan and process customer purchases accurately and efficiently
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions
- Assist customers with product inquiries and provide recommendations
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area
- Stock shelves and replenish merchandise as needed
- Collaborate with team members to ensure excellent customer service
- Follow company policies and procedures regarding cash handling and customer interactions

Requirements:
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
- Proficient in English with strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and calculations
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are a plus
- Ability to sell products by understanding customer needs and making appropriate recommendations
- Familiarity with area is preferred
- Strong organizational skills to maintain an orderly checkout area
- Phone etiquette for answering customer inquiries or directing calls

As a Post Office Customer Service Staff you will be required to work as part of our post office and retail store driving customer service excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role as you will be working closely with the customers and other members of your team to maximise sales. Although sales are important we want our customers to enjoy visiting our shops and ultimately come back again, it is your job to provide help and assistance to the customer and ensure they find everything they need whilst they are in our store. Product knowledge is essential for you to respond to customer enquiries and also make appropriate recommendations.

Here’s What You Can Expect to be Doing

  • Maximising sales by delivering excellent customer service
  • Controlling costs and waste
  • Till operation and cash handling
  • Selling financial products and services to meet targets
  • Selling stamps and dealing with letters and parcels
  • Paying out pensions and benefits
  • Processing bill payments, car tax payments, vehicle registration, and passport and driving licence applications
  • Selling travel insurance and foreign currency
  • Controlling and replenishing stock levels
  • Maintaining security within the store according to Company procedures
  • Ensuring that all store standards including customer service, health and safety are maintained.
  • General cleaning duties
  • Maintaining and updating administration in accordance with the existing procedure

A Few Things About You

  • Previous experience in retail and post office is preferred but not essential
  • Helpful, friendly and comfortable working with the public
  • To be enthusiastic, committed and self-motivated
  • To be able to work as part of a team but also on their own initiative

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: £11.44-£12.40 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 40 per week
