Belmond is seeking a Kitchen Porter for the luxurious British Pullman train. Based both in the kitchen department at the British Pullman depot and on board the train, you will report to the Sous Chef. Key Responsibilities
- Washing, rinsing and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots and pans used by kitchen staff.
- Operating dishwashing equipment efficiently and safely.
- Ensuring the kitchen, including countertops, sinks, floors and walls, is kept clean and sanitised.
- Assisting the kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping and cleaning vegetables, as needed.
- Collecting and disposing of kitchen trash and recycling in a hygienic manner.
- Assisting in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies, detergents and kitchen essentials.
- Participating in the loading and unloading of goods onto and off the train.
Requirements
- 1-2 years’ relevant experience within a similar role.
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward or dishwasher is advantageous, ideally in a luxury/five-star environment.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation techniques.
- Physical stamina, ability to work under pressure and to work flexible hours.
- A professional and courteous manner and grooming/appearance that reflects the image of our Company.
- Awareness of health and safety regulations and a willingness to be environmentally responsible in all that you do
