Coventry City Council’s Legal and Procurement Services are part of the public sector  providing in-house legal support and has custodial responsibility for public spending to Coventry City Council.

The Legal Services team offers a professional comprehensive, tailor-made service to address legal issues of every description. The team is highly motivated, eager to develop and face challenges head on.

 

What is the job role?

This is an exciting opportunity to join Coventry Register Office. As a Casual Registrar, you will be involved in officiating at marriages and civil partnerships, and other non-statutory ceremonies including baby naming, renewal of vows and commitment ceremonies — all duties required under the Registration Acts and Regulations.

This casual post meets the service's demands and needs, which will include working weekends and bank holidays. The ability to attend venues across the city in a private vehicle at specific times is essential including transporting other registrars when required

Who are we looking for?

You will need to be able to learn, understand and apply the legalities underpinning registration and the ability to recognise and report cases of fraud, perjury, sham, and forced marriages/civil partnerships.

Excellent people skills are vital, as is the ability to speak confidently before large groups. The role requires you to be personally involved with customers in both a professional and sensitive manner.

You will need to be flexible and you must be a motivated individual who understands the demands of working within this type of environment and will have a good understanding of the sensitive and confidential nature of the service.

You must be able to work productively as part of a team. You will also require a positive outlook and be responsive to customer needs, along with the needs of the Registration Service. For any informal enquires please contact: Claire Healy, claire.healy@coventry.gov.uk
