SalaryAn opportunity to join a wholesale distribution business as a Category Buyer working within the Purchasing Department, where you will develop relationships with suppliers and stakeholders alike to effectively manage the purchasing process in line with Category plans. Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiation of pricing and lead time with key vendors/factories
- Raise purchase orders (PO) in line with Company process
- Establish strong relationships with suppliers, ensure lead times are met and expedite outstanding orders
- Drive continuous improvement across the purchasing process to improve stock service levels and inventory value metrics
- Liaise with the sales teams to ensure new contracts and product requirements are forecasted accurately
- Conduct product research as well as sourcing new supplier and vendors
- Prepare reports on purchases, cost analysis and sales history
Key skills and experience:
- Strong understanding of Purchasing principles and processes
- Industry sector experience related to garments, apparel, PPE preferred
- Experience with Purchasing systems (preferred)
- Analytical skills applied within Purchasing and Inventory management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong supplier relationships, preferably with key supplier accounts
- Sound commercial awareness
- Experienced with MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Degree/CIPS qualifications desirable
- 3+ years' experience in a purchasing role
