Senior Category Buyer

Gleeson has been exclusive partnered with a Rail Business looking for a Category Buyer. This Opportunity would be best fitted to a professional looking to expand their knowledge within the Rail industry.

Job Title: Senior Category Buyer

Locations: Derby / Birmingham

Duties:

• Develop and execute processes necessary for negotiating supplier contracts at the site, indirect expenditures, and any specialised projects.
• Cultivate relationships with suppliers across the organisation from a procurement standpoint, ensuring adherence to contractual service levels.
• Enforce compliance with agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) among suppliers.
• Conduct routine contract evaluations with the supply chain when appropriate.
• Manage warranty procedures and resolutions, promptly addressing all warranty claims by customers.
• Collaborate with customers and suppliers to resolve disputes and ensure supplier readiness for both planned and unforeseen needs.
• Assess and accredit all of the suppliers appropriately.
• Ensure effective setup of all suppliers, including Purchase Order (PO) management.
• Maintain current budgets and spending in line with contract-related price adjustments.
• Exercise responsibility for the care, custody, and control of company assets.
• Efficiently manage material and service suppliers to ensure effective operations.
• Oversee all third-party relationships for spare part control and utilisation.
• Fulfil any other reasonable requests within the function.
• Provide assistance to suppliers and internal functions regarding health and safety matters.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the function and the business.
• Operate in accordance with the organisation's values and behaviours.
