Job description

Working with the Commercial Manager along with the wider team, you will be providing insights and utilising your category expertise to build on brand offering and extending the retail presence to maximise on revenue generation and brand positioning.

The role

  • Provide strategic commercial insight on how to partner best with retailers resulting in brand growth in range size & features.
  • Analyse market trends, consumer behaviour, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
  • Utilise data analytics to assess category performance, identify gaps, and recommend strategies to optimise assortment and shelf space.
  • Lead category management initiatives, including assortment planning, pricing strategies, and promotional activities.
  • Lead category management reviews and provide expert insight
  • Actively engage in new product development discussions
  • Work closely with the NPD team to ensure alignment between consumer preferences and new product concepts.
  • Lead the planning and execution of category strategies for new product launches
  • Build strong relationships with retail partners through regular communication, data- driven insights, and collaborative business planning sessions.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, emerging products, and competitive landscape.
  • Develop and present comprehensive category reviews to retailers, highlighting insights and recommendations to drive business growth.
  • Work closely with internal cross-functional teams
  • Provide training and support to sales teams on category management principles and effective use of data.
  • Provide category & brand performance data for competitor reviews, including recommendations for actions.
  • Any other reasonable duties associated with the role or projects assigned to meet overall objectives.

About you

You will have proven and demonstrable experience gained ideally from a food manufacturing business, or from a FMCG focused position. You will be adept at implementing category strategies which result in business growth. As a sound communicator, with excellent presenting, negotiating and influencing skills, your analytical knowledge will lead and develop workable strategies which result in revenue generation. You will be an advocate of product development and with the insights gained from market research and client liaison, your input into the wider business strategies will aid the continued growth of the business.
