Our client is a Local Authority in East London. They have a very active housing refurb and maintenance programme and they require a Category Manger to support the efficient and cost effective procurement of externally provided services.
You will deal with end-to-end contract management including supplier relations, contract implementation and quality assurance. Through your day to day work you will be involved with establishing appropriate commercial strategies, governance systems and procurement best practice. You will have a key role to play in working with internal stakeholders to promote the benefits of procurement, demonstrating to managers and heads of service how effective procurement can improve service provision.
Other key duties will include drafting a project plan for each contract, liaising with budget holders to set realistic budgets and using various systems to place contract notices and find appropriate organisations to enter the tender process.
Our client is offering an initial 6 month contract with a day rate of £450 (umbrella) which reflects the level of experience we are looking for. It is essential that you are familiar with Local Authority procurement procedures and you can demonstrate specific experience managing housing maintenance and refurb contracts. Good communication and organisational skills are essential as you will need to be able to manage processes end to end and you can expect to be working on multiple project streams at any given time.
