Job description

We are looking for a Catering Assistant to join the Marie Curie team at our Cardiff & The Vale Hospice!

Salary: Marie Curie Pay Scale, aligned with AFC Band 2 - £22,720 per annum

Hours/Contract: Permanent – 37.5 hours per week

Based: Cardiff & The Vale Hospice

Closing date: 16 th April 2024

The Marie Curie Hospice, in Penarth, provides high quality care for patients, and their friends and families, within a comfortable environment overlooking the beautiful Bristol Channel.

As Catering Assistant, you will be joining our existing, friendly and committed team to deliver a high-quality food service to our patients, visitors, staff, volunteers and members of the public. Operating flexibly between our kitchen and our café you will be working to ensure we maintain our level 5 food hygiene rating and excellent customer care.

You will become a vital member of the Catering Team, contributing to the smooth operation of the kitchen. You must be able to undertake general kitchen duties and food preparation and be comfortable serving patients, on the wards, and members of the public within the café environment.

What we are looking for :

  • To have knowledge of and practice all regulations of food hygiene
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Some cooking skills with the ability to contribute towards menus
  • Awareness of health and safety issues in the workplace
  • Experience/knowledge of working in a catering department/kitchen/cafe
  • Knowledge of maintaining a clean, tidy, safe and hygienic environment
  • Barista experience is desirable but not essential - a willingness to learn is essential

You will need to be flexible, well presented and highly organized.

Kitchen experience is essential, together with excellent communication and customer service skills. A basic food hygiene qualification is desirable but not essential as training can be provided for the right candidate.
