Our client has registered a brand-new opportunity for our well-established client who are seeking a Catering Manager on a term-time basis. The core working hours would be from 9:30am - 2:30pm Monday to Friday ranging each week from 25 - 35 hours (capped at 35).
The role;
To be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient operation of all aspects of catering services within school.
Main responsibilities;
- Take responsibility for preparation, cooking and service of food in school
- Assist with the development of school policies and procedures relating to catering services
- Plan, operate and control the production and service of food-related duties, setting out programmes of work and supervising other catering staff
- Devise, plan and prepare balanced multi and/or limited choice menus with the cook(s), in accordance with nutritional standards, considering the dietary needs and preferences of pupils and varied cultural and religious backgrounds and that are cost within the allocated budgets
- Order food goods and other commodities from suppliers within the agreed school(s) catering budget
- Take responsibility for the cleanliness of equipment, the kitchen and dining areas in school
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen in accordance with health and safety, food hygiene and COSHH regulations at all times
- Ensure storage and management of food and other consumables in line with health and safety and hygiene regulations.
- Promote school meals to parents, students and staff, using school website, intranet and bulletins, ParentPay and any other agreed communication routes
- Assist in purchase of stock, stock take, food rotation procedures
- Manage cashless catering system, setting up new items for purchase on the system, training and support for team members in use of the tills and system (NRS and ParentPay)
- Liaise with other school staff to ensure smooth provision to students entitled to free school meals and pupil premium benefits
- Demonstrate good standards of customer service
- Any other duties reasonably requested by your line manager
About you / Required;
- Food Hygiene training completed
- First Aid trained or readiness to undertake emergency first aid at work training
- A good standard of general education at secondary school with practical attainments
- Demonstrable success in a similar post in a school or college would be an advantage
- Experience of providing a responsive, customer-focused service
- Experience in planning and team working
- Care and attention to detail, and a methodical approach to work
- Good organisation skills and personal time management: organising duties and working to priorities.

- Numerate
- Written/spoken English
- Good computer literacy / IT skills
- Flair and innovation with menus and food presentation
- Positive attitude, eager to learn
