Job description

Main Duties

Key Activities and Responsibilities

To plan, teach and evaluate courses that meet the learning needs of students.

  • Teach in a flexible and creative way that reflects the advertised course outline.
  • Provide a course outline, schemes of work, lesson plans and individual project briefs as required.
  • Develop, revise and use teaching materials that derive from a global perspective and that are relevant to a diverse student group.
  • Assess students’ learning during the class and give them feedback
  • Take responsibility for classroom administration, e.g. take registers
  • Advise students on progression routes to other courses etc.
  • Attend relevant training / development events / open days and meetings as required.
  • Ensure documentation and practice in relation to Health and Safety is in place and adhered to.
  • Assist in the process of curriculum development in so as to ensure the continued relevance to the needs of students and CHP’s ethos.
  • Any other duties as appropriate to the post.

Accepted applicants will be offered suitable work as and when it becomes available. The first taster courses will begin in August 2024.

Skills and Experience Required

Person Specification

Essential

 

  • A degree, professional qualification or other relevant ceramics experience
  • A thorough and demonstrable knowledge of throwing, hand building, simple mould making, glazing, surface treatment and firing processes
  • Experience of teaching Ceramics to adults of mixed ability in group settings
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within your specialist area.
  • Understand and have experience of promoting safeguarding, health and safety as appropriate to the role
  • Have an understanding of and experience of promoting equality and diversity
  • Can inspire students to achieve
  • Have an understanding of and experience of promoting excellent customer care.
  • Can support students to overcome barriers to learning
  • Can communicate effectively and listen to others
  • Can work in a collaborative way
  • Can work effectively as part of a team
  • Can share best practice and learn from other colleagues
  • Excellent subject knowledge
  • GCSE/ Level 2 A*-C/ 2 English and maths qualification (or equivalent)

 

 

Desirable

  • First Aid at Work Certificate.
  • A teaching qualification
