An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CFD Engineer to join our Submarines business in Derby.
In this role, you will undertake complex assessments of a range of components, taking the task all the way from initial requirements capture, to building the CFD model in STAR-CCM+, running the simulations on the HPC and post-processing the results. You will apply CFD to a wide range of applications across the entirety of the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant (NSRP).

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. What you will be doing:
You will perform complex CFD assessments of components and sub-systems across the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant. You will:
Develop new tools and techniques to increase the use of CFD within Rolls Royce Submarines.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, interacting with a wide range of stakeholders and contributing to safety cases and design decisions.
Work in collaboration with experimental engineering to develop new rigs and collect CFD validation data.

A degree in an engineering discipline or related subject.
Post -qualification industrial experience in carrying out CFD analysis - required.
Experience of building CFD models, ideally with STAR-CCM+ and an understanding of CFD workflows and best practice.
Ability to analyse the results of a simulation and clearly communicate the key findings to a range of stakeholders.
Experience writing code to automate model build or post-process data, ideally with Python, MATLAB or Java.
Ability to work well within a team to achieve a common goal and to engage consistently with stakeholders to understand the intent and application of work .

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don't currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
