Overall direction and leadership is set by the Governing Board and CIH is now seeking an exceptional Chair who can lead the organisation through 2024 and beyond.
The Governing Board of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) is charged with the leadership and management of the business of CIH. This includes:
- the strategic direction of the organisation and setting priorities.
- CIH’s Corporate Plan, budgets and accounts.
- management and exercising of all powers of the Institute, apart from those which can only be exercised by the wider membership in general meeting.
- Risk and Compliance

Applicants are welcomed from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences and will be expected to demonstrate a strong track record of achievement in their field and as Chair or Vice Chair of trustee/non-executive boards; you are likely to be accustomed to operating at a senior level within an organisational setting and have a strong network of contacts and experience of influencing within and outside of an organisation.
Appointments will be made based on values, skills and experience and CIH particularly welcomes applicants with a background in the following areas:
- A Professional Body or membership organisation
- Charity sector
- Housing Sector
