Are you passionate about supporting families? Are you looking for an opportunity to join a dynamic organisation, working in North Essex?

EXTRA support for families are looking to grow our Trustee board.

Based in Jaywick ,and providing parents and carers with group education and other support, we deliver our services across Tendring and Colchester. We have been operating for 20 years and have gained a solid reputation for providing quality programmes in the community.

We are funded by a Community Fund grant and other grants, and we plan a termly programme for community members to self-refer to or be referred by another agency.

We have gained particular expertise in the area of supporting parents with children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) , and our facilitators have lived experience in this field.

We are a small team and have associate facilitators funded by us to widen the expertise and knowledge in the groups we deliver.

EXTRA – Support For Families are currently extending an invitation to participate in the election process for joining our Board of Trustees. We are looking fordedicated individuals to serve as Trustees, whose term will begin in May 2024.

Extra Support for Families is registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation- CIO. As the governing body for the Charity, the Board of Trustees plays a crucial role in overseeing the organisation’s overall corporate governance. This involves collectively establishing objectives and ensuring that the organisation functions efficiently towards achieving the objectives for the betterment of the public. Trustees have a vital role in providing guidance and support towards our work.

Joining the five current Trustees, who are elected from the community, we seek further diverse representation from the wider North East Essex community. They are entrusted with acting in the best interest of Extra and helping us achieve our charitable goals, as well as realising our vision to make quality parenting education and programmes accessible to all in our area.

Our Board, led by the esteemed Ben Carroll, comprises representatives from our community, alongside Council Trustees who bring in external expertise and experience to our decision-making process.

We are currently seeking to broaden our Board of Trustees and invite individuals from the following sectors who possess the following skills to apply for the positions.

Skills

· Finance, income generation and fundraising.

· Business development

· Recruitment and people welfare

· Legal and/or knowledge of principles and process in quality, diversity, and inclusion

· Marketing, media and PR

· Standards and practice development

Sectors

· Grass roots organisations

· Education

· Health / mental health

· Social care

· Housing

· Victim and/or offender services

· Police

· Youth justice

· Community organisations

· Academia
