Job description

The role holder will provide strategic support to the Assistant Director, Corporate Finance (Deputy Section 151 Officer) and the City Treasurer in formulating and implementing proposals for the strategic financial management of the Council's revenue budget, £805m. 

The role holder will lead on all financial accounting matters including the completion of the Council’s annual accounts and the group accounts.

The role holder will manage, deploy and co-ordinate all resources in a well-planned and controlled manner, ensuring that service requirements and resource levels are fully identified.

The role holder will deputise for the Assistant Director, Corporate Finance on all Corporate Finance financial matters in their absence as required.   

The role holder will be responsible for the newly established finance systems team who manage the Council's core financial system.

You will be joining Manchester at an exciting time as we replace our current SAP Finance and HR system. You will be integral to supporting the implementation team on the design and configuration and eventual operation of the new system.

You will also need:
 
Experience of preparing, managing and monitoring significant revenue budgets in a large and complex organisation.
 
Experience of preparing and managing the preparation of annual financial accounts in a large and complex organisation.
