Job description

Are you a visionary leader passionate about making a difference to the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND)?

All children and young people with SEND have a legal right to an education that meets their individual needs. But many tens of thousands of children and young people are not getting the support they are legally entitled to.

At Independent Provider of Special Education Advice (IPSEA), we are here to change that. We are the leading charity in the field of SEND law in England, and we provide free and independent legal advice and support to families of children and young people with SEND. We also provide training on the SEND legal framework, and we influence policy at both a local and national level.

As our new Chief Executive Officer, you will join us at a critical time when the need for our services is greater than ever.  IPSEA is already a leading force in the sector, but we know we must do more to create positive change and to reach more families of children and young people who need our support.

We are seeking an individual who will provide the highest levels of empowering leadership to achieve IPSEA’s strategic objectives, working with the Board to develop holistic, financially sustainable plans underpinned by the strategic vision to support service delivery.

You must demonstrate a strong commitment to implementing IPSEA’s mission: to help children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, and their  families and carers get the appropriate education, training, and support they are entitled under the law.

You will have experience in a similar leadership role, ideally within the charitable sector. Demonstrated success in leading and managing teams is crucial, and you will possess a strong understanding of strategic planning and financial management, including the ability to generate income and manage budgets effectively. A proven track record of setting and achieving both strategic and operational objectives is essential.
