To fulfil our exciting ‘Birmingham In Action’ campaign ambitions we are recruiting for a Bid Support Officer. This brand new busy, dynamic and rewarding post will work at the heart of the Development and Alumni Relations Office (‘DARO’) and will facilitate the smooth delivery of support for large and complex bid writing, proposals, and funder applications. The post holder will support fundraisers across the office with the preparation and submission of philanthropic funding applications to individuals, corporates and Trusts and Foundations. You will be responsible for sourcing and collating information to ensure that funding applications are budgeted appropriately, required documents are prepared according to funder guidelines, submitted on time to online funder portals, and application forms are completed correctly with appropriate sign off processes followed. You will also follow this through to ensure reporting, invoicing and spending requirements are met, but also bring creativity and fresh ideas to the process given that so much of what we do as a team is focused on building relationships.
The post holder will report directly to the Executive Project Manager and will work closely with fundraisers across the office and key academics. The post holder will regularly engage with other teams within DARO such as the Philanthropic Finance Team and more widely with colleagues across Professional Services such as Legal Services, Research Strategy and Services Division (RSSD) and the University Finance Team.
We believe there is no such thing as a typical member of staff and that diversity is a source of strength that underpins the exchange of ideas, innovation, and debate. We warmly welcome people from all backgrounds and are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where diversity is at the heart of who and what we are, and how we work.
Supporting our people to achieve a healthy work/life balance is important both to our employees and to the success of the University and, depending on the role, we offer a variety of flexible working arrangements. We therefore welcome discussions on all forms of flexible working. In addition, you will receive a generous package of benefits including 40 days paid holiday a year, one paid day a year for volunteering, occupational sick pay, and a pension scheme. We also have three high quality subsidised day nurseries.
