As they enter the scale-up phase, a strategic and experienced CFO is being sought to join the team and help drive financial strategy and achieve their ambitious goals.
Role Overview: As CFO at Protas and member of the Executive leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial future of the company during its scale-up phase. Reporting to the CEO you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business, providing strategic guidance, and implementing financial best practices to support Protas’ growth objectives. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside truly remarkable individuals and continue to inspire change.
The position offers significant flexibility, accommodating various schedules and availability. Candidates have the option to choose between part-time or full-time work arrangements, depending on their personal needs and preferences. This allows individuals to balance their professional responsibilities with other commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
As an integral part of the Executive team you will provide broader organisational leadership as well as crucial leadership to financial operations and planning.
You will oversee strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting to develop and implement long-term financial plans that support the organisation's mission and goals as well as developing the financial approach to commercial contracts with clients and partners. You’ll assess financial risks, developing and implementing strategies and internal controls to mitigate them while also ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and reporting requirements, including tax laws and regulations.
You will lead a high performing, integrated, inclusive and flexible finance team, developing and supporting excellence, respect and cohesion across the whole organisation, taking an active role in the promotion and embedding of a diverse and inclusive culture.
Lastly, you’ll also engage with the Board on financial matters, ensuring clear communication of financial performance, risks and opportunities.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience
- Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role
- Corporate finance experience, for example: corporate structure, fundraising, tax strategy
- Track record of managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Clinical trials, Biotech or Life Sciences
- Scale up phase moving to service delivery
Desirable:
- Managing financials across different countries/jurisdictions
- Experience in setting up international entities

You pride yourself on being an inspiring leader that sets an example, leading and motivating both within and outside of your own reporting line. You have exceptional communication and influencing skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with the CEO, cross-functional teams, board members, and external stakeholders alike.
