Pay.UK is the designated operator for the UK’s retail payments operations, which includes Bacs, Faster Payments (FPS) and Cheques Image Clearing System (ICS). Through their infrastructure and services, Pay.UK enables billions in payments every single day and, at their core, that’s their primary focus.
Pay.UK are working to transform the way that payments are delivered in the UK. They are creating common standards and new infrastructure, which will be the engine driving excellence and success throughout the industry. In addition to the day-to-day responsibility for the robust and resilient operation of the retail payment systems, Pay.UK has the mandate to design, and implement next generation architecture, which is the future of retail payments in the United Kingdom UK as set out in the Payments Strategy Forum NPA Blueprint, published in December 2017.
The Role:
Pay.UK is looking to appoint a Chief Transformation Officer. A newly created role, this is a unique opportunity to join the Executive team of UK’s leading retail payments authority to help drive and orchestrate the business transformation across the whole organisation, supporting the delivery of Pay.UK vision and strategy.
The Chief Transformation Officer will provide leadership to the transformation function and whole organisation, ensuring business change is effectively delivered and embed through effective performance and engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for driving organisational and culture change across Pay.UK to support their strategic direction and objectives.
- Develop and execute the Transformation strategy and portfolio of delivery agreed and approved at Executive and Board level.
- Leadership, development and support of all colleagues in the Transformation Directorate, supporting and developing professional and organisational capabilities (PM, BA, PMO, Business Change).
- Accountable for the development of a centralised Transformation function for Pay.UK to oversee all programmes and projects (including NextGen) to create efficiencies and a consistent change approach.
- Responsible for portfolio delivery, ensuring the portfolio remains aligned to strategic priorities through effective tracking, monitoring and reporting up to Executive and Board.
- Delivery of a benefits realisation framework to track and monitor investment against delivery of expected benefits over time.
- Effective management and reporting of Change and Nextgen budgets ensuring value for money across all programme delivery.
- Accountable for 1st Line risk management of change programmes across the portfolio.
- Liaising with the People and Procurement Directorates to establish cost effective sourcing strategies for Change delivery, whilst building organisational capabilities.
- Supplier management of managed services and suppliers under the Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) framework and Pay.UK policies ensuring effective performance and value.
- Acting as the face of transformation across Pay.UK internally and externally in communicating the vision and inspiring colleagues to embrace their role in business and culture change.
- Representing Pay.UK in regulatory and industry engagements to ensure we are engaging regularly and effectively regarding our strategy and delivery against strategic programmes.
The Individual:
Successful candidates will be inclusive leaders with demonstrated experience engaging with varied stakeholder groups on complex strategic issues. They will bring:
- Significant experience in senior/ executive role comprising strategic leadership of change and transformation.
- Significant experience of leading large scale and complex technology transformation.
- Proven track record in driving, implementing and delivering complex end –to end change programmes.
- Experience of a financial market infrastructure (FMI) environment, Payments Sector experience highly desirable.
- A deep understanding of UK market regulation and the regulatory environment related to Financial Services/ Payments. Direct regulator experience preferred.
