Job description

Our Children and Young Persons Service works to enhance young people’s quality of life by amplifying their voices, providing access to resources, and equipping them with necessary skills, knowledge, and support.

As the Team Manager, you will lead a dedicated multi-disciplinary team, delivering intensive support interventions for young people aged 11-25. You will ensure the delivery of an accessible, safe, and effective service within available resources, addressing service user needs.

This post is working 36.25 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Shortlisting week commencing 29th July with interviews being held week commencing 12th August 2024.

What you will be doing:


Staff Management: Oversee daily operations of the CYP team, supporting and developing team members for effective virtual, building-based, and outreach support.
Casework Support: Guide the team through supervision and team meetings; assist directly with client work when necessary.
Initial Assessments: Conduct initial assessments and ensure robust support packages; support intake as needed.
Client Support: Manage a caseload of clients, offering 1:1 support; maintain a waiting list, triaging and prioritising referrals.
Casework Oversight: Collaborate with Clinical Supervisors and Senior Managers to ensure timely, trauma-informed, and client-centred assessments.
Communication: Foster effective communication between the CYP team and other teams within Jami and Jewish Care.
Service Development: Contribute to the development of CYP Services through regular meetings and participation in the Youth Mental Health Network.
Leadership: Lead by example, motivating and empowering others, promoting positive attitudes and collaboration.
Partnership Working: Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community mental health teams, social care providers, housing providers, and others.
Staff Wellbeing: Support staff wellbeing in collaboration with Senior Managers, clinical supervisors, and the HR team.
Staffing and Budget: Assist in ensuring appropriate staffing and skills mix; contribute to budget planning. Ensure all team members receive appropriate supervision and annual appraisals, maintaining professional standards. Work with HR to monitor annual and sick leave; ensure training and development needs are identified through annual appraisals.
Service User Involvement: Ensure service users are actively involved in their support plans and service development.
Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date records and implement policies and procedures. Implement team systems and processes for a responsive and effective service.
Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance processes to maintain high-quality care and support.
Reporting: Develop reports for the Board of Trustees, Clinical Governance, and Professional Advisory Board; contribute to funding applications.
Policy Development: Contribute to Jami’s policies, procedures, and links with other agencies.


What you will need:


Recognised health and social care qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, RMN) or 5+ years' relevant experience working with 11 to 25 year olds (E).
Experience in multi-skilled teams addressing mental health difficulties (E).
Partnership working with Social Care, Health Services, Voluntary Agencies, Education, housing, etc. (E).
Needs-led assessments, goal planning, and reviewing (E).
Managing and supervising staff in a social care setting (E).
Supporting individuals with complex needs (E).
Conducting immediate risk assessments (E).
Providing intensive 1:1 support (E).
Experience in a mental health setting with young people (11-18) (E).
Familiarity with the Mental Health Act 1983 and Amendment 2007, Equality Act 2010, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Care Act 2014 (E).
Understanding of Recovery values and principles (E).
Knowledge of social care resources and provisions in statutory and non-statutory agencies (E).
Commitment to service users’ rights, involvement, and service-user-led initiatives (E).
Ability to implement a culturally sensitive approach considering the needs of the whole person (E).
Understanding of the Children Act 1989, 2004, and other related Acts (D).
Excellent assessment skills
