Job Title: Social Worker Department: Children's Social Care Grade: PO1, PO2, PO3 Responsible to: Team Manager
Main Purpose of Post:
- Implement positive change in complex cases involving children, families, and carers.
- Lead and oversee professional judgments within legal and policy frameworks.
- Undertake high-need comprehensive assessments of children and formulate support plans.
- Establish collaborative working relationships with partner agencies.
- Act as the lead professional in complex statutory cases.
Key Unit Accountabilities:
- Manage challenging caseloads autonomously, addressing multi-agency input and complex dynamics.
- Devise robust assessments and care plans, influencing positive change through relationship-based work.
- Prepare court reports and represent the Council at legal proceedings.
- Maintain high-level knowledge of legislation and regulations.
- Contribute to supervision, appraisal, and case reflection meetings.
- Undertake responsibility for complex projects in agreement with line manager.
- Organize and plan work activities, keeping management informed of any issues.
- Recognize and act on safeguarding concerns, contributing to the response.
- Identify resource needs and make recommendations to management.
- Analyze complex information and produce high-quality reports.
Person Specification:
- Professional qualification in social work and registered with Social Work England.
- Up-to-date expertise in children's social work theories, legislation, and guidance.
- Pre or post-qualifying experience in statutory or voluntary settings.
- Experience of direct work with children and managing complex cases.
