My client in South Yorkshire is hiring for a Service Manager to join their frontline children's service. We are looking for candidates who possesses strategic & operational leadership skills & experience to support team members to deliver & drive service quality forward, so that together we make a real difference to the lives of children and young people.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver and develop services for children, young people, families & carers according to financial plans & portfolio and Council priorities.
- Help the Local Authority meet national targets and initiatives.
- Develop policy, procedure & standards to provide excellent services & align with local and national priorities.
- Represent the service and partner with other agencies on new projects & initiatives to improve outcomes.
- Represent the Local Authority on regional and strategic groups.
- Maintain professional knowledge of national initiatives from bodies such as the DoH and DfE.
- Assist with preparing briefings and reports.
- Deploy staff resources effectively to achieve service delivery requirements, comply with procedures, national standards & best practice.
- Ensure a creative approach to the recruitment and retention of foster carers & adopters.
- Ensure the achievement of requirements & actions for inspections and reviews.
- Ensure emergency cover and decision making with other Service Managers 24/7.
- Lead on the achievement of KPIs through service planning.
- Supervise, lead, guide & manage Senior Managers & others in the team.
- Lead on HR procedures for direct reports & other staff in service area.
- Ensure effective performance management in service area.
- Be accountable for quality of work & record keeping of case files.
- Review complex or high risk escalated cases.
- Make decisions on meeting the standards of inspection regimes such as Ofsted, DfE, Annual Performance Assessment & Joint Area Review.
- Draft and monitor & be accountable for service area budget.
Requirements for the role:
- Degree or Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent.
- SWE registration.
- Recognised management qualification or evidence of significant management training & experience.
- DBS or ability to pass DBS check.
- Knowledge of key national targets & initiatives.
- In depth knowledge of relevant legislation, best practice and guidance.
- Understanding of quality assurance & how to implement quality assurance frameworks.
- Significant management experience in a Children & Families setting.
- Budget management experience.
- People management experience.
- Experience of working effectively under pressure, ensuring that business critical deadlines & statutory timescales are adhered to.
- Experience of strategic planning & performance management.
