Childrens Social Worker - Children With Disabilities

My client in North-West London is currently hiring Social Workers for their Children and Young Adults with Disabilities Service.

Salary: Starting at £41,808 per annum usually rising to £45,000 with annual increments + £5,000 Golden Hello payment (after 6 months). & £2,500 annual retention payment every 12 months.

Responsibilities:

• Assessing the needs, strengths and wishes of children and young people with Disabilities and their families and determining the appropriate level of intervention and service provision.
• Providing direct support and guidance to children and young people with Disabilities and their families, helping them to make changes and solve problems, and promoting their wellbeing and independence.
• Working with colleagues from other disciplines, to coordinate and deliver the best possible services for children and young people with Disabilities, in line with the SEND code of practice.
• Safeguarding children and young people with Disabilities who may be at risk of harm or abuse and using relevant legal powers to protect their rights and welfare.
• Managing a case load, including child protection and court work, and participating in planned work related to court orders.
• Reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness and outcomes of the services and support provided to service users and their families and making recommendations for improvement or change.
• Supporting the transition of children and young people with Disabilities to adult services and ensuring continuity and consistency of care and support.

Requirements for the role:

• Degree or Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent.
• SWE registration.
• Completion of ASYE or equivalent.
• DBS or ability to pass DBS check.
• Experience working with children and young adults as a Social Worker.
• Experience using different techniques to enhance communication with disabled children and young people.
• Knowledge and practice of relevant legislation.
• Experience conducting mental capacity assessment.
• Knowledge of DoLS
