Morrison Water Services is recruiting for a Civil Engineer / Pre Construction Manager to work on our Northern contract in Leeds.
As the Civil Engineer / Pre Construction Manager you will be part of our Engineering Team
The Civil Engineer / Pre Construction Manager will be responsible for the development of a consistent approach with the MWS design supply chain i.e., Design Consultants and Suppliers. This will include the onboarding of each consultant/supplier in the completion of project requirements following the MWS Design Management Plan (DMP).
Working in collaboration with Design Managers or equivalent in the design supply chain. Ensure that the strategic planning of workload and design resources are adequately utilised across the capital programme i.e., Clean and Wastewater projects (including Civils and MEICA).
Ensure the approval of a design supply chain partner in a timely manner with MWS Supply-Contract Control (SCC). Work with the North Commercial team in the production of the professional services contract.
The Civil Engineer / Pre Construction Manager will ensure project activities schedules are completed with the Design Supply Chain partner. Liaise with Commercial Leads in approval of project costs and agreed timescales/budgets. On a monthly basis to ensure invoicing of projects are carried out in a timely manner. Any anomalies are discussed with key contacts and the commercial team.
Ensure that the onboarding of design consultants and suppliers is in line with MWS policies and procedures and contract requirements.
Ensuring consistent quality, and production of designs which enhance the MWS brand.
The Civil Engineer / Pre Construction Manager will ensure work is carried out by the design consultants and suppliers in a productive and timely manner. Maintaining focus on reducing risk in all Design elements of Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality and Commercial aspects and relevant to clients' Engineering Specification/Asset Standards.
As the Civil Engineer / Pre Construction Manager your responsibilities will include:
- Remain at the forefront of emerging industry practices for innovative approaches.
- Expand the engineering services capability that compliments both client requirements and the aspiration of the MWS business plan and growth opportunities.
- Communicate the required standards for the design supply chain in developing Engineering policy, process and BMS requirements.
- Proactively work with MGroup organisations and help shape/support potential opportunities wherever possible.
- Support the Design Management in activities across the north area including the tender phase, and post-award design and delivery stages.
- To ensure the design supply chain have a presence in the MWS office on a weekly basis and engage with the contract project teams to fulfil design requirements.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
• Experience of using MS Office Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, MS Project
• Ability to demonstrate an initiative to work on their own and as part of a team
• Have a good knowledge of water hydraulic network systems undertaking, either through
previous experience or education
• Experience of using AutoCAD 2D / GIS Software
• Knowledge and Experience of CDM 2015 Regulation
• Awareness of Process Safety
• Good communication skills, understands and meets the clients needs
