My client are market leaders in in their engineering field covering industries such as Utilities, Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Infrastructure and have expanded into renewables. My client are looking to recruit a Civil Project Engineer to join their growing team of specialist across the UK.
My client are looking for a Civil Project Engineer to be overall responsible for managing the substation civil engineering, construction- and contracting activities, starting with tendering activities together with Sales and ending with the hand-over to the service department a/o client, with regard to scope, cost, time and quality so as to obtain the greatest return
Main responsibilities of the role:
· Civil and structural design, ability to check and comment on civil documentation in accordance with contractual requirements of tenders / projects
· Knowledge of UK Building Market, Standards and Regulations
· To liaise with civil designers or resolve site Technical Queries, remedial works and snags
· To support CDM coordinator / Temporary works coordinator in the enactment of duties
· Contribute technical advice during the feasibility, design, construction and commissioning phases for projects to our direct labor force (Direct Services), framework contractors. To liaise with civil designers or resolve site Technical Queries, remedial works and snags
· Monitor, control, and report on progress (costs and budget throughout the project)
· Select key personnel and subcontractors for the project
· Investigate and develop cost effective design and construction solutions,
· Contribute to the development and the implementation of the clients Design Guidance, Standards and Specifications
Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Qualifications:
Candidate requirements include:
- To be qualified for this position, individual should have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in: Developing project requirements, cost estimates, project plans and budgets within the construction industry (preferably on large multi-million dollar projects)
- Civil and structural design, ability to check and comment on civil documentation in accordance with contractual requirements of tenders / projects
- Assist in the negotiations and awarding of contracts
- Monitor, control, and report on progress (costs and budget throughout the project)
- Resolve disputes, negotiate change orders, communicate decisions to, client, subcontractors and management personnel
- Select key personnel and subcontractors for the project
- Knowledge of UK Building Market, Standards and Regulations
- Knowledge of National Grid, SSE, EDF and similar major utilities.
- Experience as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE), as defined by National Grid's NG/ET/SR188 procedure will be an advantage.
- A Chartered Engineer (through IET) status or working towards it is desirable.
