We are currently working with a reputable engineering and development consultancy seeking to recruit a Senior Civil Engineer to join their growing team in Birmingham. The ideal candidate would be a well-rounded Civil Engineer with a strong bias for drainage design including demonstrable experience of working with drainage section agreements 104, 106 and 185 as well as highways section agreements 38 and 278. You will take lead on a variety of projects which include working on commercial and residential schemes ranging from £20m to £200m.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading a team of engineers and other technicians to undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, and to high-quality standard.
- Preparing briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.
- Successfully managing time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
- Working closely with teams across the UK to deliver integrated design solutions.
- Promoting adherence to Health & Safety policy and procedures.
- Supervising and delegating to other members of staff as required.
- Checking and approving own and other staff work, including third party design proposals.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Chartered (or Incorporated) Engineer or working towards professional qualifications.
- A working knowledge and experience of relevant drainage, flood risk and Water Industry Standards and specifications (e.g. Sewerage Sector Guidance, SUDS Manual).
- Working knowledge of S104, S38, S278 sectional agreements.
- Experienced in the use of MicroDrainage and AutoDesk design software.
- Understanding of the use of design tools within a BIM environment.
- Experience of managing programmes and resources, delivering to time and budge.
- Experience of supporting preparation of fee proposals would be desirable.
- Sound problem-solving skills, and a pragmatic, practical mind.
