The role
Our client is seeking a Civils CAD Technician to join their team in Didcot. The position will include diverse responsibilities, involving hands-on tasks in highways, drainage, and infrastructure design. Additionally, the role includes offering technical assistance to fellow members of the in-house team.
You will be supported from day one and be part of numerous exciting engineering projects that aim to advance your career and skillset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluation of site and feasibility analysis.
- Examination and design of walking, cycling, and public transport infrastructure (WCHAR).
- Planning and overseeing servicing/delivery design.
- Designing highways for both local authority and private residential/commercial purposes (S38/184/278).
- Conducting assessments of vehicle-swept paths.
- Assessing utilities and negotiating their impact (C3 & C4 estimates).
- Conducting Flood Risk Assessments and assessments for flood compensation.
- Designing and modelling drainage systems (S106/104).
- Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP).
- SuDS maintenance plans / Earthworks modelling.
- Road Restraint Risk Assessment Procedure (RRRAP).
- Ordinary Watercourse Consent applications.
- Traffic calming and home zone scheme design.
- Traffic Regulation Orders and Stopping Up Orders and Road Safety Auditing (Stages 1 to 4).
The Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess self-motivation, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Preferred qualifications for candidates include:
- Possess a relevant engineering or CAD qualification.
- Extensive background in civil engineering design consultancy.
- Proficient in using software for horizontal and vertical highway design and civil engineering design, with a preference for expertise in Civil 3D, AutoTrack, and MicroDrainage.
- Knowledgeable about highway planning procedures, including Section 38/278 Agreements, UK design principles, and standards such as MfS and DMRB.
- Familiarity with procedures related to Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) and Road Safety Audits.
- Acquainted with drainage adoption procedures, including section 106/104, UK Design principles/best practices, and standards like Sewers for Adoption and the SuDS Manual.
- Proven experience in interacting with clients and collaborating with other professionals, showcasing strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
