Claims Handler

My client is a successful underwriting agency with over a decade’s experience of supplying fleet insurance to companies up and down the UK. From their HQ in London and small branch network they use a wide range of brokers to offer a personal, tailored service to meet the needs of Hauliers, Couriers, Standard and Non-Standard fleets.

They seek to recruit a full-time permanent Claims Handler to join their team in Belfast.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Record First Notification of Loss in relation to Motor Accidents
- Make accurate policy decisions regarding indemnity and coverage
- Review liability to ensure correct decisions are made and negotiate liability settlements where required
- Maintain accurate reserves based on current information for all aspects of the claim within authority levels
- Appoint appropriate partner companies and monitor/manage their performance
- Communicate clearly with customers, third parties, and their representatives
- Maintain data accuracy and files to agreed standards
- Ensure the recovery of claims outlay as necessary
- Support and liaise with Claims Manager with day-to-day requirements and file updates

Skills and Experience:
- Experience in Motor Insurance claims
- Good technical knowledge
- Confident telephone manner
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work using own initiative within boundaries
- Effective collaboration skills across various levels and responsibilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office

What do we offer -
- Starting salary of £25,000 per annum. Negotiable based on experience.
- 25 holidays plus standard bank holidays.
- Normal working hours 9am-5pm. (1 hour lunch)
