Job description

Taking the lead in obtaining the best possible settlement in the event of large, complex and often high profile claims affecting some of the North’s best-known privately-owned and publicly-listed companies, this is a superb opportunity to forge a highly visible role with a leading global broker.
This firm has won the prestigious "World’s Most Ethical Insurance Broker" award for 10 consecutive years so, as you would expect, it takes the strength of its claims proposition and employee advancement very seriously. As such, this global takes great pride in its reputation in the local market for offering an environment where opportunities for progression are only limited by your ambition!
The team handles claims on behalf of all this broker’s clients across the whole of the North West, and you will be welcome to be based (in a hybrid : remote capacity) from any one of a number of regional offices (or several, if preferred).
This role is heavily client-facing and you will visit clients (typically accompanying Account Executives and Directors) at their premises or site of claim for any number of reasons such as to help prepare renewal reports, talk through the broker’s claims offering to prospective clients at tender or, of course, in the event of a loss. You will be dealing with clients from a wide variety of industry sectors such as Construction, Logistics & Distribution, Manufacturing and Engineering, and accordingly, have a caseload of claims spanning Property, Motor, Liability and Financial Lines losses, to name but a few. Most of your clients will sit within the Corporate Division and generate fee income in excess of £75,000 per annum, although your expertise may be occasionally be called upon to deal with commercial and mid-corporate clients suffering major losses, such as work place fatalities and the like.
You will take the lead in managing relations (from a claims-perspective) with a range of stakeholders such as clients, insurers and loss adjusters etc. You’ll investigate the circumstances around any loss, anticipate any challenges from insurers and other 3rd parties, and put across robust defences should any claims be refuted. Scrutinising policy wordings, you will personally negotiate with insurers to ensure that you swiftly obtain the most favourable possible settlement terms for your clients. As well as reacting to active files, you will also play a key part in supporting colleagues in reducing both costly losses and future years’ premiums by analysing claims trends, and producing reports to identify any areas of concern. We are particularly interested in speaking to candidates who would like to undertake some line-management responsibilities within the department, whether this is helping less-experienced colleagues on an ad-hoc basis, or perhaps even formally managing a number of colleagues.
We are keen to hear from client-service focused claims professionals from a range of environments such as insurance brokers, companies or adjusters. Ideally, you will be au fait with a range of insurance covers, although we welcome applications from outstanding candidates with, for example, just Property or Liability experience, who can demonstrate the ability to quickly get up to speed on all claims classes. You must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), be an excellent negotiator, and pride yourself on your ability to build rapport with both internal and external stakeholders from all walks of life (including senior personnel at £100M+ turnover companies). You must also be naturally curious, with excellent attention to detail, and superb problem-solving skills to ensure you can obtain your clients the best possible settlement terms.

In return, you will receive a generous basic salary (anticipated to be circa £55K, but negotiable for outstanding candidates) plus car allowance, bonus and a fantastic 'flexible’ benefits package that can be tweaked to your personal circumstances.
