Job Title: Cleaning and Clearance Operative
Overall Purpose of Job
To provide a high quality cleaning and clearance service within empty properties, ensuring that internal and external areas (including garden areas) are cleaned and cleared to a high standard ready for new tenants, in line with relevant policies and procedures

Main Responsibilities
- Ensure the cleanliness, security and safety of empty properties to an agreed standard:
- Cleaning & disinfecting internal areas, including toilets, kitchens & bathrooms
- Sweeping, litter-picking, mopping/vacuuming of floors, stairs, landings
- Removal of ingrained dirt from all surfaces, including deep cleaning if required
- Garden clearance and removal of green and other waste
- Clearing empty and abandoned properties, including sheds and roof spaces
- Ensure the safety of empty properties or surrounding areas. Take immediate action to remove hazards and report to Empty Homes Area Managers.
- Comply with COSHH and risk assessments, before use of chemical or activity, using correct chemicals and other products and maintaining accurate records
- To ensure that all internal and external communal areas are kept free from rubbish and work with to ensure that all litter and fly tipping is removed.
- Carry out minor practical tasks within empty properties, e.g..install security measures, removal of small areas of graffiti, painting, flytipping, litter, lock changes etc
- Liaise directly with Empty Homes teams to ensure keys are managed appropriately and do not cause any delays in void turnaround times or the quality of relet properties
- Liaise with and Support Officers, Housing Officers and other relevant teams to ensure properties are made, and remain, secure when empty.
- Liaise with external agencies such as North Lincolnshire Council and the Police regarding issues such as refuse collection, fly tipping, bulky waste collection etc
- Ensure adequate levels of stock of cleaning materials are maintained.
- Act as a representative of ongo Homes at all times, maintaining a professional and customer focused approach to all customers and stakeholders and following relevant policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skill & Experience Required
- Health & Safety
- Buildings/general maintenance knowledge.
- Experience of caretaking, cleaning, repairs or other relevant work area.
- Flexibility
- Physically fit
- Full clean driving licence (including trailer use)
