The role
The City of London Academy is looking for a Clerk to the Governors to join the local board members whose main responsibility will be to support the governance of the 3 schools in the Southwark. Which consists of the City of London Academy (Southwark), Redriff Primary School and Galleywall Primary School.
We value the role of local volunteers in supporting and challenging our Academies. Local Board members work with Academy Leadership to improve schools and maintain high standards of education and support. The clerk will help Local Board members at our academy and our two sister primary Academies to achieve this. We are moving from a model of one governing board over three schools to an individual board at each school and integral to this process is the Clerk.
About you
The postholder must be proactive and creative in spotting good governance and areas needing improvement. They will build strong relationships with Principals, Chairs, and central team members to ensure each Academy is ready for Ofsted inspections. As a governance expert, the postholder will support the Trust’s training program for committee members and lead on recruiting and retaining volunteers, using innovative methods to attract high-quality volunteers. The role also involves ensuring smooth communication between the Academy and the Trust. You will also be responsible for managing panels at all schools in relation to complaints and student discipline.
