Job description

Empowering enterprises to keep the planet habitable for all!

Reversing the impact of Climate Change is one of the world’s biggest challenges. And businesses have a responsibility to lead the way. While individual consumer choices are important, over 80% of all the emissions reductions necessary for the world to reach Net-Zero, require business-level action. But despite the growing momentum and ambition from companies around the world to set Net-Zero goals, there are significant challenges to delivering on these ambitions. Business leaders don’t really know how they will get there. And the very first step, of getting emissions measurement right, is hard.

Terrascope is an enterprise-grade, end-to-end decarbonisation SaaS platform. By combining AI-assisted carbon measurement & management with deep industry & sustainability expertise, Terrascope helps solve the data management, emissions reduction planning and implementation challenges that large enterprises face to decarbonise their operations and complex supply chains.
Publicly launched in June '22, Terrascope is working with customers in multiple industry verticals such as agriculture, food & beverage and consumer packaged goods, as well as horizontals such as manufacturing, technology, transportation and real estate. Terrascope is an innovative player to support enterprises in their green transformation.

Backed by Nupo Ventures (formerly Olam Ventures) and incubated with support from BCG X, Terrascope has now achieved a number of globally recognised accreditations, with more on the way – including being the first CDP Gold Accredited Software provider from Asia and signing The Climate Pledge to be net zero by 2040. Terrascope aims to lead by example and demonstrate that business growth and carbon reduction can go hand in hand.

Our Sustainability team is seeking a Climate Change Research Intern to support the team with research priorities and to synthesise this research into well documented internal knowledge assets that are shared across teams.

As a Climate Change Research Intern, your key research priorities are:

You will also assist with:

    • Analysing data and research findings
    • Compiling research into knowledge assets in the form of internal reports (in Notion) and presentations (Slide decks)
    • Providing other support to the Sustainability team as needed
    • Support to develop contemporary GHG accounting solutions for the Land Sector.

You should have/be:

    • Pursuing or completed a degree in sustainability, or related field

    • Inquisitive and proactive mindset
    • Attention to detail
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical thinking abilities, to effectively compile research into knowledge assets
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and deliver high-quality work with great accountability and reliability
    • Passion about addressing Climate Change
    • An interest in learning GHG accounting and target setting methodologies, particularly those in the land sector published by the IPCC, GHG Protocol, and Science-based Targets Initiative (SBTi)

As a Climate Change Research Intern, you will gain valuable skills and experiences in the following areas:

    • Exposure to a professional environment: Work in a professional setting with a hybrid work arrangement, participate in internal and potentially external engagements, and understand how to work independently and with a team while adhering to the expected work ethics
    • Develop research skills: Learn how to develop effective research methodologies, hone your ability to design comprehensive approaches, and conduct thorough literature reviews
    • Improve critical thinking: Gain hands-on experience in analyzing data and research findings, developing your analytical skills, and ability to draw meaningful conclusions
    • Improve communication and presentation skills: Synthesize research outcomes into internal reports using platforms such as Notion and Google Slides; present complex information clearly and effectively, with a clear storyline, to internal audience
    • Collaborate with teams: Understand the dynamics of working within a sustainability team and collaborate with other teams within the organization, developing your teamwork and collaboration skills
    • Build a professional network: Connect with professionals in the field of Climate Change and sustainability, potentially opening doors to future opportunities
    • Deliver impacts: Work with a team of diverse and highly driven individuals for a meaningful cause and create positive impacts by empowering internal teams and clients to address the challenge of Climate Change.
