Newly Qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Child Psychotherapist

The organisation is recruiting a newly qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Child Psychotherapist for their Residential service in Orpington, Kent.

This is the ideal role for Psychologists or psychotherapists starting out in their new career.

The successful Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Child Psychotherapist will benefit from the support provided by the Assessment and Therapy team following a CPD programme and regular supervision with opportunities for career progression.

Your role as Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Child Psychotherapist will focus on supporting and upskilling managers and support workers to embed and infuse attachment and trauma-informed care approaches into their practice.

This is achieved through:

  • Regular, scheduled integrated clinical assessment and formulation meetings for young people looked after within the home to provide a thorough understanding of the young person's needs and therapeutic care planning to the network around the young person
  • ?Working alongside the Residential team in writing up assessments and treatment plans to help the children develop and thrive
  • Consultancy and specialist training in developmental trauma, attachment, and therapeutic parenting approaches for staff teams. (Training will be provided)
  • Weekly Clinical Reflective Practice group for managers and residential care workers. (Training will be provided)
  • The Residential team is enthusiastic and welcoming, and they work hard to embrace psychological thinking and reflective practice approaches in their work with children and young people. The Clinical Practitioner's input is highly valued, and their opinions and formulations are actively integrated into practice

?Role requirements for Newly Qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Child Psychotherapist:

  • Minimum newly qualified clinical psychologists or Counselling Psychologists must be HCPC-registered (pending registration considered if you have a doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology)
  • Child psychotherapists must be UKCP registered and accredited
  • Essential: must have experience relating to working with children and young people who have experienced trauma and neglect
  • Experience completing clinical assessments
  • Experience delivering training
  • Experience in using specialist assessment tools
  • Experience in developing interventions and strategies that can support the residential team in managing the day-to-day challenges that their young people experience and meeting their unmet developmental needs

  • Salary: £46,000 - to £50,000 (pro rata, depending on level of experience)
