An O&G Clinical Fellow post at FY2 level is available to commence immediately for a six-month period. This post is based in the Maternity Unit in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
The successful candidate will join a team of 17 junior grade doctors in providing day-time and out-of-hours care for O&G patients. The appointees will be an integral part of the clinical team.
Main responsibilities include:
- Delivery of emergency care through Labour Ward and Gynaecology Emergency on-calls. This includes 12 hour long day shifts
- Daily ward rounds
- In-patient and out-patient management for both O&G patients
- Participation in gynaecology theatre sessions
- Contribution to antenatal and Gynaecology clinics
- Participation in the department’s teaching, audit and educational activities
The post will involve a full-shift working pattern, resident when on duty.
The rota is compliant with the EWTD and the New Deal Band 2B
There is good opportunity for attendance at out-patient clinics and theatre sessions. Some outpatient clinics and all day surgery lists are performed at the New Victoria and Stobhill Ambulatory Care Hospitals. Whilst this post will not be recognised for training, the successful applicant will be offered the same opportunities for education as the other junior grade trainees at an equivalent level.
