Job description


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team as a Clerical Officer within Clinical Imaging at Royal Cornwall Hospital, providing an efficient Imaging booking service for the Trust. We are a forward-thinking service offering an excellent team environment and development opportunities.
The main duties of the role will be to assign appointments for all Clinical Imaging modalities and be the point of contact for patient cancellations, telephone enquiries and any other duties relating to the booking process, however other duties will include reception and general administration duties. The role will include rotating through our peripheral Hospital receptions and Pydar House in Truro.
Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills are essential. You will also need to be flexible with a willingness to work rostered evenings and weekends, have an appreciation of the confidential nature of the work and be able to manage a workload to meet pre-determined targets.

Working as part of a clerical team with a high degree of flexibility in duties
undertaken, hours worked and areas covered.
Work requires concentration and is frequently interrupted.
Some of this work is unpredictable and time consuming. The ability to multi-task is essential.
Work with minimal supervision using the knowledge gained to work in an
autonomous fashion.
To advise and direct all patients, visitors and staff who attend the department in a polite, empathic manner.
Liaise with GP Surgery to ensure demographic information is correct and update on PAS if necessary.
Dealing with upset or angry patients and relatives on occasions and maintaining a calm demeanour.
To take and process telephone calls in accordance with Trust policy in an
appropriate manner. Telephone calls and e-mails will involve contact with patients, carers and health professionals.
Work efficiently and effectively at all times, whilst promoting and developing good relationships and a positive image.
Exercise judgment when dealing with enquiries, analyse and resolve problems in line with departmental and Trust policies.
Deal with highly sensitive and confidential information.
To undertake any other duties as may be considered necessary by mutual
agreement with the Booking Office Lead.
