Cambridge University Hospitals is one of the world’s leading centres for care and research in multiple sclerosis (MS). This exciting role will improve the safety, quality and efficiency of care provided to patients with multiple sclerosis; and transform how we do research.
This role will involve:
extracting clinical information from letters and inserting it into a new special functionality within Epic;
You will be trained by a consultant neurologist who will be available for queries throughout; he will provide you with a good grounding in multiple sclerosis to make it more interesting. You will also be supported by an experienced Clinical Research manager.
You will join a growing team of people doing the same roles. Feedback has indicated this is a satisfying and interesting role. The vast majority of work can be undertaken from home.
Travel to other hospital trusts may be required.
Main duties of the job
Extraction of clinical data relating to Multiple Sclerosis from electronic healthcare records for our CUH patients and patients from other Trusts (all done remotely). This will involve finding and recording up to 50 pieces of clinical and paraclinical information within the electronic healthcare record Epic; entering it into an approved and secure NHS website; and resolving any queries that result. There is a clear protocol about where to find each piece of information and what it means.
Approaching patients to discuss research and, where appropriate, helping them to sign up.
Carry out a range of admin tasks specific to work area, inputting data into relevant databases.
Liaise with team members to ensure a smooth and efficient process, with particular attention to deadlines.
Keep up-to-date with data input guidance, contribute to policy and service development.
Contribute to any changes in local admin processes as requested.
Train/supervise other staff as needed.
Attend meetings as needed, and minute as required.
Follow all CUH policies and assist in implementation as required.
Any other admin duties as required.
