Clinical Veterinary Surgeon

Labcorp is searching for a part time Clinical Veterinary Surgeon to join their team in Huntingdon, UK, to provide weekend and on call cover
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Clinical Veterinarians to join Labcorp at our AAALAC accredited sites based in Huntingdon, and also covering the Eye and Shardlow sites.
As an experienced Veterinarian you will provide veterinary health care to a range of laboratory animal species, give advice regarding the care and maintenance of laboratory animals, and provide training for technicians. Staff will cover ~ 1 weekend a month. Weekend cover will comprise the following hours:
Friday 8:30am-5pm - on site
Saturday - morning - on site
Sunday - morning - on site
Monday - 8:30am-5pm - on site
In addition, staff will be on call from Friday 5pm to Monday 8:30am to answer all emergency call and attend site within one hour if required
Essential Job Duties

• Provide laboratory animal medical and surgical care by examination, treatment and advice to ensure adequate and humane veterinary support.
• Assist site lead veterinarian to ensure that company policies and practices regarding animal care and welfare are in compliance with relevant regulations.
• Assist in training of staff on general animal health and welfare and common veterinary procedures including, where applicable, annual externship program.
• Perform physical examinations of laboratory animals as indicated in protocols and SOP.
• Report all animal care concerns and become involved in the resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary.
• Manage projects and complex cases independently.
