Are you a locum vet surgeon who is passionate about canine welfare?
We’re looking for a clinical vet surgeon to join the team at our rehoming centre in Harefield, West London this summer.
About this role:
As Clinical Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll:
- provides Clinical Veterinary work in a busy shelter environment under the direction of a senior Veterinary Surgeon from our head office veterinary team,
- provide clinical care to maintain and improve the welfare of dogs housed in the centre, helping coordinate the running of the vet suite alongside the registered veterinary nurse and vet nurse assistant,
- be clinically responsible for the veterinary services on site including consultations, surgical procedures, maintaining clinical records and overseeing cases,
- provide advice to colleagues and members of the public and prescribe medications.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will need excellent interpersonal skills to interact with the public and colleagues. As this is a sole charge role, you will need to be confident in consultations and routine surgery, although you will have support from a central veterinary team, who are available to discuss difficult cases and referrals if necessary. You should be able to show empathy and understanding towards both dogs and people and be committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care and customer service. A commitment to the aims of Dogs Trust is essential.

What you need to know:
We are looking for a vet to work at our Harefield RC for three days per week, starting from mid-July 2024 for at least three months. We would also consider applications from candidates who are interested in working two days per week. As this is a locum position, candidates should be registered self-employed or as a Limited company with HMRC (or prepared to register before they start work for us), as they will need to invoice Dogs Trust for any work they complete.
