Cloud Engineer

Role: Cloud Engineer
Salary: £55,000-£65,000
Location: In Office (4 days a week in office - 1 day hybrid)

My client is seeking a skilled professional to assume the role of a Cloud/Backend Engineer, located at their HQ in Manchester. Your primary objective involves the setup and upkeep of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions, with a main emphasis on AWS (Amazon Web Services).

Your duties encompass diverse domains, comprising Identity and Access Management (IAM), Elastic Container Service (ECS) deployments, Lambda functions, network and database (Relational Database Service (RDS), Aurora Postgres, DocumentDB, Elastic) architecture, auditing, monitoring, and the development and deployment of code pipelines.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and upkeep of Infrastructure as a service (IaaS)
• Set up and upkeep of Platform as a service (PaaS)
• Set up and upkeep of Software as a service (SaaS)
• To be able to advise on the scalability, performance, availability, security, and viability of architectural designs

Technical Requirements:

• An advanced understanding of AWS from a DevOps standpoint.
• Some experience using IBM Cloud (not essential)
• You should be proficient in scripted IaaS (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK)
• Have familiarity with general development language such as Typescript.
• Competency with Linux systems

Essential Skills:

• The ideal candidate will possess 2-3 years of experience in a commercial Cloud Engineering or similar IT role.
• Proficiency in AWS administration
• Terraform/CloudFormation/CDK
• Understanding and experience with IAM and ECS
• Lambda understanding and experience
• Network and database architecture (RDS, Aurora Postgres, DocumentDB, Elastic)
