Job description

This is an exciting opportunity. The role is fixed-term for 20 months and will deliver the Changing Tides—a Community Guide to a Resilient Coast project funded by the Heritage Fund. You will focus on creating a handbook for coastal adaptation based in the Dyfi Estuary but with wider applications. This project will use a series of co-design and co-production workshops.

The workshop themes include habitats and species, blue investment opportunities and models. They will form the basis for producing a bilingual handbook on co-designed and co-produced coastal adaptation to build the capacity and capability to understand the effects of climate change and participate in the conversation. The role will involve communications activities such as media interaction, briefings, talks and production of materials in association with RSPB communications staff.

Home-based in the Dyfi Estuary or local surroundings, you will sit within the Tir Canol team, working together and meeting regularly with each other. You will also work closely with Tir Canol partners.

Key activities:

  • In conjunction with the project manager organise, run and facilitate the workshops
  • Collate the information from the workshops for the production of a digital handbook
  • Promotion of the handbook in the project area

What we need from you:

Essentials:

  • At least 5GCSE’s, or equivalent, including Maths and English
  • Some knowledge of the theory and practice of project management
  • Competent IT user (e,g, MS packages, Outlook etc)
  • Ability to communicate about the project in a passionate and credible manner
  • An ability to produce clear written communications
  • Proven time management and organisational skills
  • Welsh speaker
  • Report writing
  • Working with project teams and stakeholders
  • Proven experience delivering actions relevant to the specific project 

Desirables:

  • Organising training events, workshops or facilitated discussions and meetings
  • Experience of working with contractors
  • Experience of producing written materials, newsletters and similar project related communications
  • Experience of managing volunteers 

Additional Information

This is a fixed-term part-time role that works four days per week. The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
