Job description

Who we are

Established in 2018, Rosslyn is a collection of three multi-award-winning speciality Coffee Shops located within the City of London. We bring together who we believe to be the leaders across various fields, from the very best coffee to the very best equipment and everything in between. The City of London has a long and rich coffee culture dating back to the 1600s, and we are passionate about contributing to the Square Mile once again becoming one of the leading locations in the world for high-volume speciality coffee.

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for great people looking to build their management career within hospitality to join our shops as we get ready for a period of growth over the next 12 months. We have a strong track record in internal development and are dedicated to growing our people as the business continues to grow.

We are keen to hear from you if you already have management experience or you’re looking to take the first step – our training and development will be tailored to your needs.

The roles

The core of our teams are the Baristas, who provide great hospitality along with great coffee for our guests. The team is supported every day by our Shop Managers and Assistant Managers, who get very hands-on with the day-to-day running of the shop, all overseen and led by our General Managers. We are seeking managers at all levels to come and join us and be part of the next part of Rosslyn’s story.

The key areas of the management team are:

Assistant Manager

  • Day-to-day coffee operations, maintaining consistency, quality and pace of service
  • Ensuring every guest receives not just a great coffee but a great experience
  • Team management, training, motivation, reward and development
  • Creating a nice place to be where each guest enjoys their time at Rosslyn
  • Maintain our culture of empathy, teamwork, feedback and accountability
  • Understand how to operate within a fast-paced hospitality environment and build a team to thrive
  • Exceptional attention to detail and standards in all aspects of the guest experience
  • A proactive approach to your business and demonstrate sound commercial insights

Shop Manager

  • Successful day-to-day running of the shop floor
  • Team Management, training, motivation, reward and development
  • Planning and strategy
  • Security / Safety Compliance
  • Management of Operations
  • Oversight of all coffee operations
  • Reporting
  • Training and mentorship

The Shop Manager role will also be highly strategic by helping identify new initiatives that drive the shop’s financial performance. You will be using data to inform decisions and meet KPIs for sales, labour, wastage, profitability, customer retention, cogs and employee retention.

You are ultimately accountable for the overall performance of the store.

The above is also complementary with welcoming guests, making coffee, operating the till, taking orders and ensuring that the shop remains a pleasant place to be.

Reward and recognition

To support our operations, we provide a comprehensive reward package, which has been recognised by The Living Wage Foundation who awarded Rosslyn the Living Wage Champion 2023 only recently. We provide:

  • Annual salary with a generous bonus scheme based on shop results
  • Full training programmes at every level, with 1:1 training with our Head of Coffee, regular reviews and individual development plans
  • Access to a world-leading coffee training platform and regular cupping sessions
  • Unlimited coffee at work and discounts, including 50% off house coffees and 30% off guest coffees
