The Finance service in Camden has an ambitious vision to ensure consistent delivery of a high-quality, value-added service with excellent financial controls. We will do this through an exciting journey of continuous improvement, change, challenge, and innovation. To be successful we’ll need to constantly adapt to meet the needs of the organisation. The first phase will realign and increase the capacity of the Finance department, so Camden will be recruiting a number of finance roles over the coming months.

The Collection Fund & Strategy Accountant is integral to the council finances and will fulfil the role of a Collection Fund specialist. The successful candidate will be expected to keep abreast of new and emerging policy and legislation, creating briefing notes on the local implications for Camden to inform the organisation’s leadership. Some of the key responsibilities will include.

  • Providing monitoring and forecasting information on the performance of the Collection Fund
  • Leading on Collection Fund Accounting and production of the Collection Fund notes
  • Providing complex business advice and guidance on financial matters and support to service managers
  • Supporting the budget setting, budget monitoring and final accounts work

To be suitable for the role you will need to be a driven qualified accountant who has the ability to decipher complex financial data in to simple clear narrative. An understanding of or previous experience of developing financial strategy, within a local authority setting would be highly desirable.
