Job description

Summary The Collections Management and Care team could be described as ‘people services’ for collections. They coordinate legal ownership and provenance research (due diligence), acquisitions, collection reviews, disposals and loans in and out. They also support or manage lender negotiations, arrange insurance, transport and maintain documentation for accountability purposes.  
This post will be focussed on specific elements of the role profile, namely inventory management and archive research to support the Collections Review team. This role requires experience in collections databases and a basic understanding of collection management procedures. Therefore, this is an excellent development opportunity for anyone interested in developing their knowledge of collections management.
We are looking to recruit a full time (37.5 hrs per week) role for a period of 12 months. What it's like to work here You will be working for and reporting to the central Collections Review team.
Your contractual location will be Overbeck’s, however we use a hybrid model so there will be an opportunity to explore and agree remote working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. What you'll be doing As a project Collections Officer you will be:
•locating collections documentation and managing information to fully audit your findings
•completing inventory and maintaining accurate inventory records on our database
•supporting the transport of contents
•supporting the disposal of contents Who we're looking for We’d love to hear from you if you have:
•experience in using a collections management system
•experience of handling historic items and collections care
•an awareness of collections management procedures and Museum Accreditation standards
•good written and verbal communication skills, including a strong attention to detail
•the ability to multi-task and prioritise work, whilst maintaining confidentiality
•competent IT skills (Microsoft Office) The package
