We are working exclusively with our client, a reputable College based in Oxford, to recruit a College Accountant on an initial 6-month basis which could be extended further. This is an on-site role with a range of flexible working options.
The College Accountant is a senior member of the management team and plays a key role in College life. This post is a hands-on role overseeing the management of the accounting function, ensuring that all financial matters are dealt with in accordance with legislation and ethical accounting practice, and also playing a pivotal role in the development of financial strategy.
The main focus of the role will include but not be limited to:
- Leading the accounting function and managing a team of 3
- Partnering with the Principal, Vice Principal, Domestic Bursar, Senior Tutor, Development Director and Head of Department
- Prepare Group Charity SORP accounts and supporting schedules for the College and its subsidiaries
- Liaise with external auditors, including responsibility for managing the annual audit process
- Produce termly management accounts for presentation at the Finance Committee
- Prepare the annual budget in conjunction with the Bursar and budget holders
- Manage the College s tax affairs and oversee the VAT implications
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and possess strong leadership skills maximising and driving team performance. They will have a strong track record of providing high quality financial advice to both finance and non-finance heads and experience of working in the Education sector.
