We are recruiting on behalf of a Civil Engineering / Build Contractor in South-East London. The company is rapidly-growing and is looking to augment the commercial team with a Quantity Surveyor as they continue to deliver key UK Projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures.
- Seek to minimize the costs of a project and enhance value for money while still achieving the required standards and quality.
- NEC Forms of Contract - dealings with the Main / Principle Contractor.
- Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with architects and/or the client.
- Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
- Assist in establishing a client's requirements and undertake feasibility studies.
- Perform risk, value management, and cost control during construction.
- Advise on procurement strategy and identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks.
- Allocate work to subcontractors and oversee their work at all stages of the construction.
- Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes.
- Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports.
- Value completed work and arrange payments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction engineering, management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in civil engineering and railway projects is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
- NEC Forms of Contract knowledge
- Proficiency in cost management software and MS Office.
- Knowledge of construction, contract law, and regulations.
