Job description

Part Time ( Wednesday - Friday 8.30 am - 4.30 / 5 pm) | £13,019 (Pro Rata of £21,410 per week annum)
Who we are
City College Plymouth is home to thousands of bright and enthusiastic students and 650 talented and experienced staff. You will be joining a college that is proud of its culture, where our core values of Respect, Ownership and Integrity are there to nurture and support a passion for teaching and learning, enriching our community through knowledge, experience and skills enabling every student to be the best they can be.
At City College Plymouth, one of the country's largest providers of quality education and training, we are going through a period of transition to enable us to propel education into the future. We pride ourselves on delivering a learning environment and organisational culture that impact positively on the health, wellbeing and sustainability of our community and enables all our students and staff to achieve their full potential.
The Role
Are you looking to work as part of a highly collaborative and student focused team? Is your approachable and supportive nature looking to make a real difference? Our Information Advisors are vital in helping our students and potential students in making their first steps towards their career goals.
As part of the Careers Team you can join a college section that has built up their knowledge of, and relationships with internal curriculum areas, local training providers, employers, support agencies, and other education providers, through consistent provision of tailored and well-informed advice and guidance.
By being a visible service for students to access as the first port of call when in need of help to navigate their way through their study programmes and career aspirations, your ability to understand their needs, and signpost and support them through accessing a variety of provisions will be invaluable in their achievement.
What Will You Bring to the Role
  • Delivering: To provide a service to students and potential students answering their initial enquiries to the College, following up with them about their applications and keeping up to records for evaluation purposes.
  • Encouraging: To provide support with the students' next steps moving on from their current studies. To be supportive and to promote the college's provision when attending events on site or at schools or within the local community.
  • Exploring: To be able to research opportunities that will enhance the students experiences at college and to support the Careers team activities.
  • Interacting: To develop strong and effective relationships with staff and those using the service to facilitate a good service for the students and enquirers.
Benefits
In return for your unrivaled information and advice as well as resource creation, and accountability for the service you provide, City College Plymouth will offer you;
  • Career development opportunities, training for professional qualifications up to level 4 as well as in house training. Support with individual development of the role.
  • Generous contributions towards your pension.
  • Free tea, coffee and healthy snacks in our dedicated staff lounge.
How we recruit
We are not prioritising the CV - we aim to recruit based on potential, not experience. We are interested in seeing your behaviours in action and how they will help you become successful at City College Plymouth, giving everyone the opportunity to show their potential, regardless of background or experience.
After completing our online application form, you will be asked to complete an online assessment. This assessment asks you no questions at all. Instead, it observes your behaviour and natural strengths in action, with a series of engaging, intuitive tasks. You will receive a report outlining your behaviours once you have completed the assessment, regardless of whether you progress to the next stage or not, providing you with some feedback.
The College reserves the right to close this advertisement early if sufficient applications have been received.
